FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tripoli, Lebanon - July 11, 2025
People-to-People Aid to Co-Fund Tripoli's First Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Clinic
Amid Tripoli's escalating drug abuse crisis and the complete absence of dedicated treatment services, People-to-People Aid has announced it will co-fund the establishment of the city's first community-based drug rehabilitation clinic-a milestone in public health intervention for one of Lebanon's most fragile urban centers.
A Deepening Crisis
Ignored for Too Long A 2017 assessment rated substance abuse in Tripoli at a critical 9-11 out of 10, citing the easy availability of narcotics and no existing rehabilitation infrastructure. The crisis has only worsened, fueled by Lebanon's ongoing economic collapse, youth unemployment, mental health strain, and systemic neglect. People-to-People Aid will contribute significant startup funding for the new clinic and is actively soliciting additional co-funders among international NGOs, philanthropic institutions, and diaspora donors. The facility will offer comprehensive outpatient services, with a focus on sustainable rehabilitation and reintegration.
Quote from the President
"This is not just a clinic-it's a turning point for how we address addiction in Lebanon," said Wasseem Kabbara, President of People-to-People Aid. "Tripoli has long been neglected when it comes to treating addiction as a public health issue. With this project, we aim to create not only healing, but hope. We invite global partners to join us in restoring dignity and opportunity to those most in need."
